About Us - Our origins

Welcome to Linku2 Hibiscus Coast! From our origins as Hibiscuslink from 2004 to 2010, our rebrand to Linku2 Hibiscus Coast and our refocus over the years on the importance and value to small businesses of SEO and Google rankings to reach customers, we have grown up and developed into who we are today!

Hi, I am Sarah Carr, Director and founder of Linku2. My passion is my local community and supporting local business and the economic wellbeing of this region.

In 1996 my husband Mark and I chose Tindalls Bay on the Hibiscus Coast as the perfect place to live and raise our children. We love the place.

As a family we are immersed in all things local; my children were all actively involved with sports and school life and are all grown up now and working in their own successful careers, locally and around the country. You can see my mad family below!

I originally come from Jersey, Channel Islands but have been in New Zealand now for almost 36 years! Wow, how time flies!

My family

I started Hibiscuslink in 2004 when, returning from a stint overseas, I wanted to find good schools, facilities, activities for the kids but could not find a single good source of information, an all-round one stop shop. Because of this and my experiences with Hibiscuslink and small local business, we rebranded in 2010, and Linku2 has developed to become a unique and comprehensive resource for locals and a high value marketing tool particularly for small local businesses, designed to help our Coastie businesses and community grow and thrive working together. Over the past 6 years I have added to my experience working with local small businesses as one of the founders and managers of our business association for the Peninsula, Business Whangaparaoa.

Our research, throughout the years, has always highlighted that local people prefer to shop local - why? Because they trust local business often more than big brands, they want to support the local economy and invariably there can be a better, more personalised choice than the big Mall environment - if you just know where to look! Plus with the price of petrol and our time poor lifestyles shopping local is simply easier!

Please enjoy using Linku2, and if you have any feedback this is always welcome and to our community members thank you for supporting us and our local businesses who link through us and trust us to support them as a local business to Go Local, Grow Local ...
