With so many fantastic beaches to enjoy both around the Hibiscus Coast and North Shore you could take up our beach hopping challenge (see No 10 below) but it is imperative to stay safe. So far this holiday season (as of December 21, 2025) and there have been many more since, volunteer surf lifeguards in New Zealand had performed 240 sea rescues for the 2025-26 summer season. This number is more than twice the amount recorded during the same period the previous year.
